Instead, he focused on down-ballot races in North Carolina, particularly the closely watched governor's race between Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein and Republican Lt. Governor Mark Robinson.
In his speech, Cooper also acknowledged former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, describing her as a 'trailblazing, once-in-a-generation leader.' The event, known as the annual Unity Dinner, brought together prominent Democrats and party supporters to rally for the upcoming election.
