Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the Sangam Barrage in Nellore, which will be named after his former Cabinet colleague Mekapati Goutham Reddy, will be completed by May 15.
Paying homage to Goutham Reddy at a condolence meeting in Nellore on Monday, the Chief Minister recalled his close association with the former Minister.
Goutham Reddy, who never thought of entering politics, went on to make a mark of his own under the tutelage of his father and former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. Goutham Reddy had always been with me through the thick and thin of politics. His death has left a void that can never be filled,” said Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He also promised that the government would take over the Rajamohan Reddy Institute of Technology and Science at Udayagiri and make it an agriculture and horticulture university.
Besides, the Veligonda project works in Udayagiri for which Goutham Reddy had made untiring efforts would be brought under the Phase-I, the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Rajamohan Reddy, Water Resources Minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav and others spoke on the occasion.
