A new burger restaurant and takeway is coming to Lady Bay in 2023. Burg will be opening on the corner of Trent Boulevard and Pierrepoint Road, in the former Pricewise shop.
Branding has recently gone up at the premises. It comes nine months after the plans for a change of use of the building were approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council despite 24 objections. Work to convert the premises is now underway ready for a grand opening on January 8 with entertainment and mirror dancers.
As well as takeaway, there will be seating for 16 inside. Burg already has a takeaway in Mapperley and a restaurant in Bramcote Lane, Wollaton, specialising in hand-crafted smash burgers including the signature Big Burg Khalifa, with four beef patties, nachos, cheese sauce, house pickles, lettuce, tomato, secret Burg sauce.

The menu's 16 burgers also include chicken peri peri and and crispy chick 'n' cheese. Sides of messy fries, waffle fries, chilli cheese bites and onion rings are served. To drink there are milkshakes in flavours including mango, salted caramel, and Peanut M&M's.
Residents had previously campaigned to save the Pricewise store when a Co-op opened in the neighbourhood and had mixed feelings about a burger joint. Concerns included traffic and parking problems, noise and anti-social behaviour.
However, the council received 18 messages of support over the plan, which argued that the restaurant would improve the variety of food shops, support local businesses and encourage people to use the area. Another burger store, Dough n Buns, opened a few doors down in November.
A spokesman for Burg said: "We found a gap in the market here in Lady Bay/West Bridgford, when customers would travel to us at Mapperley and Bramcote saying we need you in Bridgford.
"We will be the only fresh smashed burger joint in the area and have already been welcomed by local residents, commending us on how nice the shop looks and they can’t wait for us to open.
"We will be delivering to all adjoining areas, Gamston, Edwalton, Radcliffe-on-rent, Cotgrave, Clifton, Compton Acres, and The Meadows. Now we’ve got Nottingham pretty much covered we’ll be expanding in 2023 to Derby, Leicester and Birmingham with sites secured."
