Pundit Danny Murphy has hailed Newcastle United's performance at Manchester City on Saturday, despite coming away from the Etihad empty handed following a 2-0 defeat.
The Magpies responded to their League Cup final defeat against Manchester United well with a brave showing away at the current Premier League Champions but were made to rue their missed opportunites by goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva in both halves.
Eddie Howe's men are now five without a victory in the Premier League, scoring just two goals in that period with it clear to see where United's current issues lie.

However, Murphy insisted that Newcastle will come good, saying on the BBC Football Daily podcast: "It's a difficult one because they played so well. They gave City a hell of a game. They recovered well from losing the League Cup final but Callum Wilson missed a sitter.
"They got themselves in really good positions and that's all they can keep doing. They've got to take belief from the performance."
Next up for the Magpies is a home match against Wolves who returned to winning ways in the league on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Molineux.
