Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Michelle Trachtenberg has died, age 39.
The actress was found unresponsive at her New York City home on February 26, with the New York Post the first to break the news.
Her death is not believed to be suspicious.
“Criminality is not suspected,” a statement from the New York Police Department said. “The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.”
Tratchenberg rose to fame as a child star in Harriet the Spy (1996), but millennials will always love her as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (aka Buffy’s sister) and the chaotically evil-but-sometimes-good Upper East Sider Georgina in Gossip Girl.
Her Gossip Girl co-star Ed Westwick — aka Chuck Bass — was the first to lead the tributes.
“So sad to hear of the passing of @michelletrachtenberg sending prayers,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, along prayer and white heart emojis.
RIP to an iconic screen star.
