Renowned adventurer and Paralympian Gerrad Gosens is among four Australian Para-triathletes selected for the looming Commonwealth Games.
Gosens, who has climbed Mount Everest and also competed on the television show Dancing With The Stars, Sam Harding, Jonathan Goerlach and Erica Burleigh will make their Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham.
The quartet comprise Australia's Para-triathlon vision impaired team for the Commonwealth Games starting on July 28.
They will be joined by guides Hayden Armstrong (Gosens), Luke Harvey (Harding), David Mainwaring (Goerlach) and Felicity Cradick (Burleigh) at the first Para-triathlon vision impaired (PTVI) event at a Commonwealth Games.
The Para-triathlon wheelchair category made its Games debut in 2018 on the Gold Coast.
Gosens, a three-time Paralympian, said representing Australia again had enormous significance.
"I don't need to see the Australian flag to feel what it's like to be an Australian," he said.
"And I don't need to see the colours of green and gold to believe in what I believe in to represent my country."
Perth-born Harding has made the swap to triathlon after racing the 1,500m T13 event at last year's Tokyo Paralympics, where he finished 11th, while Burleigh took up the sport just four months ago.
Trailblazer Goerlach contested in his first Para-triathlon in 2012 and also placed eighth at last year's Tokyo Paralympics.
