It doesn't sound like a usual compliment but Gorka Marquez has told his fiancee Gemma Atkinson that she has her 'pregnant' face back. The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress has been keeping her followers updated after she had to undergo an emergency procedure last week.
Gemma was left in even more agony after a trip to the dentist for toothache saw her having her wisdom tooth removed. Last week, Gemma struggled to speak to the camera as she sat in her car after leaving the dentist where she had to be squeezed in for an appointment.
After completing work on Hits Radio, she headed home and returned to Instagram to thank fans for their messages before adding: "I've genuinely never had pain like this. I thought it would just be a case of pop it out, a few painkillers." But taking to Instagram on Friday night (September 2), it appeared things hadn't settled down for Gemma.
"What's so funny is I currently look like I've been whacked in the face," she penned. "And I'm shooting my autumn drop for @inthestyle on Tues." The mum-of-one then joked: "May have to change it to a boxing range."
She has since returned to social media to offer her loyal followers an update. She said that she was "coping OK" with the pair and "soldiering on" until she was suddenly hit by severe pains down her arm, in her neck and around her eye socket. Another emergency visit to a dentist and Gemma was told it was a 'dry socket' - where a blood clot fails to develop in the tooth socket, or if the blood clot becomes dislodged or disappears - and an infection.
"Two lots of antibiotics, regular pain relief, salt water swirls and rest for the next 2 days," Gemma penned about her treatment. "Oh and a soft food diet and no training. I'm cling filming Gorka's b'day cake from today (because I picked the one for him that I wanted obvs) and I'm determined to have some before next week."
The 37-year-old went on to thank her fans for their "lovely messages" as she felt like "a proper s**t house" for moaning about having a tooth removed. She then shared a video of herself at her Greater Manchester home with daughter Mia, three, who was helping apply some cream to her mum's face.
"My doctor," Gemma penned across the video. "Gorka say I've got my 'pregnant face' back as I've no jaw line, just a full moon." She then shared a picture to show how one side of her face was completely different to the other. "Have to laugh," she penned. "It's actually gone down loads from this! This was about 5hrs before I caved and rang the out of hours."
But Gemma was still powering on as Gorka celebrated his 32nd birthday on Sunday (September 4). And after going out for dinner to celebrate, despite not being able to have a proper meal, the mum-of-one returned to social media to praise a local restaurant in Ramsbottom.
She said the Ramsbottom Social in Bolton Street cooked her up a special bean stew after she had to sit and watch everyone else "scoff the gorgeous food". She explained how they even blended it for her "so it was like baby food," before giving her some to take home.
