Gorka Marquez says 'see you in 2024' after confirming news that tricked fans into thinking Gemma Atkinson had given birth

Gorka Marquez has told fans that he'll 'see them in 2024' after confirming some exciting news. The Strictly Come Dancing star took to his Threads account, the new social media app from Meta, on Wednesday morning (July 12) teasing that he would be sharing something that morning.

And fans rushed to comment as they thought it could mean that his fiancee Gemma Atkinson has given birth with one fan asking: "Has Gemma had the baby?" The couple are currently expecting their second child together after welcoming daughter Mia in July 2019.

But their unborn baby, who they confirmed was a boy when announcing the news, is taking his time in making his entrance into the world. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (July 11), Bury-born Gemma confirmed that she is now 40 weeks into her pregnancy.

The mum-of-two-to-be could be seen popping out for some fuel as she was pictured outside a 'to go' cafe hatch. Her blossomed baby bump could be seen as she smiled for the camera while sporting some dark joggers and a black tee under a pink fleece jacket.

"Still standing, still eating cake. Little man still lovely and comfy #40weeks," Gemma captioned the post to her 1.8 million followers while also adding the Elton John track 'I'm Still Standing'.

So Gorka's post had fans hoping for an announcement about his expanding brood. However, it was actually a different kind of exciting news. "See you in 2024," he later typed when he returned to the platform alongside a poster for the Strictly Come Dancing Professionals UK tour which will take place next year.

He also posted the same image to his Instagram Story and said; "See you all," alongside a yellow heart. It comes after it was revealed earlier this year that Gorka is among the pros returning to the Strictly ballroom when the BBC One dance contest returns this autumn.

Also confirmed to return are Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vita Coppola.

They'll all take to the floor once more with new celebrity partners. They will also promise viewers an abundance of spectacular routines.
