Popular gig venue Gorilla is remaining closed after cancelling gigs last week. In a post to social media, it assured customers and gig-goers that the venue is ‘temporarily closed’.
It then advised those with food and bookings or gig tickets that either the venue itself or agents for the gigs would be in touch to make other arrangements.
The message reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are temporarily closed. If you have a food and drink booking with us this weekend our reservations team will be in touch to reschédule or find you somewhere else to party!

“If you have tickets for a club or live event over the weekend, your ticket agent will update you if there are any changes. Our closure is only temporary and we will be back with you all very soon! loads of love, team gorilla xx.”
Last week, a show by Swedish band Goat was shifted from Gorilla to Club Academy, though tickets for shows in the coming days, including indie pop band Teleman, club night Slap! and Beta Band frontman Steve Mason next week still appear to be on sale.
The Manchester Evening News has contacted the venue for clarification.
It follows a similar closure last summer, when its landlords, Network Rail, forced it to shut its doors for six weeks while ‘essential works’ were carried out.
It said in a statement at the time: “We have spent a lot of time trying to reschedule shows, working with bands & promoters to reduce the amount of disruption to people’s calendars. Live music & parties are what make Gorilla.
“We are really disappointed to close even for a short amount time, but in order to maintain the building and ensure Gorilla can keep hosting and bringing incredible events in the future then this work is unavoidable.”
