Gordon Smart has impressed Good Morning Britain viewers so much that they are calling on ITV bosses to make him a full time host on the show.
Journalist and Radio X presenter Gordon made his debut on GMB on Thursday, teaming up with Charlotte Hawkins for his first show and it' didn't take long for people watching at home to flood Twitter with positive feedback for the guest host. Charlotte did her best to embarrass Gordon by reading out messages that had come in for him, including a number from fans who dubbed him 'easy in the eyes' and another from his local butchers back in Scotland.
Gordon was back with Charlotte on Friday as they fronted another live show together, discussing the big news stories of the day, including the deaths of football legend Pele and fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, the broadcast of Channel 4's Prince Andrew The Musical and reports that the UK Government could enforce Covid tests for Chinese travellers.
Minutes into Friday's show, having also been impressed with him a day earlier, many viewers were calling on GMB bosses to make Gordon a permanent fixture in the studio. Taking aim at the show's existing presenters, one tweeted: "Gordon Smart has been a brilliant anchor this week, so much better getting up for work and not having to watch and listen to smarmy Adil Ray grinning at his own jokes or even worse Ed Balls! You should make him permanent."
Also calling for him to land a full time job, another posted: "@GMB Morning love Charlotte and Gordon presenting together can we please keep Gordon as the main presenter so refreshing to see first thing in the morning," with a third tweeting the show to say: "Gordon HAS got what it takes on #GMB for presenting, interviewing, not camera shy and he is very knowledgeable on all of the subjects covered. He is a great fit. But is he full time with @susannareid100? Or just a stand in."
