Gordon Ramsay's Scots restaurant 'sorry' over diner's overcooked £100 beef wellington

Gordon Ramsay's Edinburgh restaurant has had to apologise to diners who waited almost an hour for their overcooked main course.

The unhappy couple wanted to sample the the Michelin star chef's world famous beef wellington, but were left bitterly disappointed when it arrived and sent the meal back.

Management at Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen reached out to the couple via TripAdvisor after they had left a review, explaining they were 'sorry' the couple had issues with their experience.

As reported in Edinburgh Live, after visiting the new St Andrew Square venue in January, the couple had praised the "outstanding service" from staff, but explained the food wasn't up to scratch.

Sharing their review on TripAdvisor, the pair said they had been visiting for a 30th birthday, and had been impressed with their starters.

However, after treating themselves to the pricey wellington, it eventually arrived very well done, when the couple had requested it to be medium rare.

The review explained: "We ordered the beef wellington medium rare however when it arrived it was pretty much well done so we where really disappointed with this as it took around 45 minutes to come and costs £100 so would expect this to be perfect for the cost.

"When we complained about this we where advised we would have to wait a further 45 minutes for a new one so decided to get the steaks which where good but nothing special."

On reflection, the couple said management had handled the situation "very well", but added that if the food had been cooked to their liking they "would have scored five stars."

Quickly responding to the complaint, the Bread Street Kitchen apologised, and said:

"We are sorry to hear that your experience with us did not live up to your expectations in this occasion.

"Please accept our apologies once again and be reassured that your comments regarding the Beef wellington have been discussed already with the kitchen team in order to improve daily."
