Gordon Ramsay has reignited his feud with his Cornish neighbours as he admitted he regrets not defending himself.
The celebrity chef and his wife and five kids sparked fury after moving to their £4 million second home in Cornwall to isolate during the coronavirus lockdown in March 2020.
Locals were reportedly furious at Ramsay for leaving London, with members of a local Facebook ground saying the family had risked spreading the virus.
Others threatened to reveal Ramsay’s address if he did not leave.
“The big s*** should take himself and his family the hell out of Cornwall,” one said at the time, according to The Sun.
“He’s swanning around the shops as if nothing is wrong. He’s had pool engineers over. There is no defence at all,” said another.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Gordon has now hit back at his neigbours.
He said: “God knows why we took so much s**t from the Cornish. We lived down there; we just hadn’t been down there for a long time.’
“We didn’t sneak down there at all. We got there at an appropriate time, and had an absolutely amazing time.”
The TV star added that he relished the time with his family during lockdown, adding: “A time like that – we’ll never get back again. When the kids started disappearing again, I didn’t want it to end – as a dad, not a chef.”
The family frequently spends time together in Cornwall and Jack, the Ramsays’ eldest son, reportedly lives at the house full time.
Gordon’s wife Tana also defended their time in Cornwall in an interview in November 2020.
Speaking to Metro, she said: “We want to stay safe and help everyone keep safe as much as possible.
“We spent our time in our home with our family, and you know that that was what was most important.”
