Gordon Banks death: Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland wears commemorative strip

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland wore a special commemorative strip on Saturday to mark the passing of Gordon Banks.

The World Cup winner died earlier in February, aged 81.

Butland's strip featured no name, badge or sponsor, wih just a small message for Banks near the bottom.

The design is based on the strip Banks wore as Stoke beat Chelsea in the 1972 League Cup final, the club's only major trophy.

Ahead of kick-off, Butland walked flowers to the centre circle ahead of a minute's silence. Banks family were in attendance.

Stoke City also produced a special matchday programme for Saturday's visit of Aston Villa, which featured just Banks' face on the front cover.

A tribute involving green and white tiles was also on show ahead of kick-off in a string of celebrations to remember the famous keeper.

Banks player for Stoke for six years, joining in 1967 as world champion following England's success on home soil the previous year.
