A senior Intel Committee aide has confirmed that President Donald Trump's nominee for director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, currently lacks a majority of votes from committee members required to proceed to the full Senate.
According to sources, half of the Republicans on the committee are not fully supportive of Gabbard's nomination, which is crucial for advancing her confirmation to a full Senate floor vote.

The uncertainty among GOP members stems from various factors, including Gabbard's previous stance on Section 702, her controversial meeting with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and her defense of Edward Snowden in the past.
It is noteworthy that no nominee selected by President Trump has failed to progress beyond their respective committees thus far.
This development indicates a potential roadblock in Gabbard's path to becoming the director of national intelligence, highlighting the importance of garnering support from committee members to secure a successful confirmation process.
