Republican Senator Thom Tillis expressed his disagreement with the recent US decision to align with Russia in voting against a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia's war against Ukraine. Senator Tillis stated that Russia was clearly the aggressor and that he would have voted in favor of the resolution if given the opportunity.
The US also voted similarly to Russia on a US-proposed UN Security Council resolution that did not label the Kremlin as the aggressor or recognize Ukraine's territorial integrity. When asked about his thoughts on the US aligning with Russia instead of European allies, Senator Tillis mentioned that the Trump administration must make its own decisions and speculated that the vote could have been part of a broader negotiation strategy regarding the ongoing conflict.

Senator Tillis strongly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, referring to him as a murderer responsible for the atrocities committed against thousands of Ukrainians. He emphasized that he considers Putin to be an aggressor in the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has been engaged in discussions with Moscow aimed at resolving the war, and President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Another GOP Senator, John Curtis of Utah, expressed deep concern over the US vote against the UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine.
