A House GOP lawmaker is introducing legislation to honor President Donald Trump by putting his likeness on U.S. currency. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-TX, announced that he will be introducing a bill to feature Trump on the $100 note after his current term.
Gill stated that this move is a way to recognize Trump's dedication to the country, highlighting his efforts to secure the border, address trade imbalances, promote energy independence, and prioritize America's interests.
The proposed bill aims to replace Benjamin Franklin with Trump on the $100 bill, with a preliminary design expected by the end of 2026 and circulation targeted to begin in 2029.

This initiative follows a recent push by Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., to include Trump's image on a new $250 note, with support from three other House conservatives. However, changing faces on U.S. currency is a complex process, with the last update dating back to 1929 when Andrew Jackson replaced Grover Cleveland on the $20 note.
Efforts to replace Jackson with Harriet Tubman during the Obama administration did not materialize under Trump's presidency. The Biden administration resumed the plan in 2021, but it remains incomplete. Additionally, current U.S. law would need to be amended to allow living individuals to be depicted on currency.
