Greg Steube, R-Fla., is set to introduce a bill to designate the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) as the Donald John Trump Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States. The EEZ refers to waters adjacent to a country's coast where it holds exclusive rights for various activities.
The U.S. boasts the world's largest EEZ, covering 4,383,000 square miles. Steube emphasized Trump's commitment to ocean strength and resilience, citing his efforts during his presidency to bolster America's economic prosperity and security.
The proposed legislation, coinciding with Trump's 78th birthday, aims to honor his contributions to the nation. While the bill is unlikely to advance in the Democrat-controlled Senate, it underscores Trump's enduring influence in the Republican Party.
This bill follows another recent proposal to name a prominent entity after Trump. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., introduced a bill in April to rename Washington-Dulles International Airport as the Donald J. Trump International Airport. Additionally, a group of Democrats responded by introducing legislation to rename the federal prison in Miami as the Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.
