Google starts showing adverts in the middle of your Gmail inbox

Google has started to put adverts that look like emails in the middle of users Gmail inboxes. Users have taken to Twitter to complain they have been opening what appear to be emails, only to be confronted with ads.

Google has not commented on the new position for ads on Gmail.

9to5Google reports that Google has been 'turning up the dial on how many ads show in Gmail, both on mobile devices and the web'.

Theyt say users report seeing more ads in general, as well as ads in the middle of their lists and at the top of some views.

Rosemary H tweeted: "As a person who works very hard to keep my email in check, I am absolutely INCENSED that Gmail is just putting random ads in my inbox now???"

Connor Marshall tweeted: "This should be illegal"

David Levy tweeted: "When did gmail start putting their ads scattered throughout your inbox instead of just at the top? I do not like this."
