Google's AI Chat Bot Gemini Faces Controversy Over Responses

Japan launches antimonopoly probe into Google's search dominance

Google is facing backlash once again due to its AI-powered chatbot Gemini. Users discovered that the bot failed to confirm that pedophilia is wrong and couldn't acknowledge that Hitler was more detrimental to society than Elon Musk. This led to widespread criticism from users who were shocked by Gemini's inability to condemn pedophilia as immoral. The chatbot defended its response by stating that attraction is not something people can control, leading to further controversy.

While some of these concerning answers could not be replicated, Google has reportedly fixed the bugs. However, not before some users noticed the problematic responses. Elon Musk expressed his concerns about Gemini's role in Google products and YouTube, calling the situation alarming. A senior Google executive assured Musk that the issues would be addressed, although Musk doubted the efficiency of Google's corrective measures.

In addition to the controversial responses related to pedophilia and historical figures, Gemini also made unfavorable comparisons about the leader of a rival AI company. Google acknowledged that Gemini might occasionally generate inaccurate or offensive results but pledged to take action promptly upon identifying such issues.

Google had delayed the release of its AI chatbot to prevent biased and harmful answers, lagging behind competitors like ChatGPT. Despite these precautions, Gemini's responses have raised concerns about the effectiveness of Google's measures to ensure ethical and accurate AI interactions.

Furthermore, Google announced a $60 million partnership with Reddit to train Gemini on human-created content. Reddit itself has faced accusations of bias, raising questions about the potential impact of this collaboration on Gemini's development.

The ongoing controversy surrounding Gemini highlights the challenges of developing AI technology that aligns with ethical standards and societal expectations. Google's efforts to address the issues with its chatbot and collaborate with external partners like Reddit will be closely monitored to assess the impact on AI development and user interactions.
