Google Photos Updates Layout, Introduces Locked Folder Feature Prominently.

Google has recently made changes to the layout of the Google Photos app, aiming to enhance user experience. The update includes a rearranged Library tab that introduces a new button labeled 'Locked' at the top of the screen, replacing the previous Utilities button. This change aims to provide easier access to the Locked Folder feature, which allows users to secure their sensitive photos and videos.

However, with this update, some users may find it challenging to locate certain features that were previously accessed through the Utilities menu. Most of these utilities, such as creating albums, collages, highlight videos, and more, can now be found by tapping the '+' icon at the top of the screen. Additionally, functions like 'Free up Space' and 'Move photos to the archive' have been relocated to different sections within the app for easier access.

The Locked Folder feature, initially launched as a Pixel exclusive in 2021, is a passcode-protected folder designed to safeguard sensitive media content. Users can store photos and videos in this folder to prevent them from appearing in the main library or other apps. The Locked Folder feature has since been extended to other Android devices and iOS platforms, offering users a secure way to manage their private media.

Overall, while the updated Google Photos layout may require some adjustment for existing users, the changes aim to streamline access to essential features and enhance the security of personal media content.
