Google Photos Testing New Feature To Hide People From Memories

Google is currently working on an update to its popular Memories feature in Google Photos. This new feature aims to make it easier for users to avoid being reminded of specific individuals in their photo library without having to delete any pictures.

The current method of hiding faces from Memories is somewhat cumbersome, buried deep within the app settings. However, a recent discovery has revealed a new, more intuitive approach that is being tested.

Users will soon have the option to swipe upwards on a photo to reveal thumbnails of recognized individuals. By tapping on the three dots icon next to a person's thumbnail, users can select 'Hide face from memories.' Additionally, they can edit the person's name or change the cover photo associated with that individual.

This new functionality allows users to remove unwanted individuals from automatically generated Memories, providing a way to customize their photo viewing experience without permanently deleting any images.

How to Hide Faces from Memories Now

For those who wish to hide specific people from Memories immediately, the current method involves navigating to Photos Settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide people and pets. From there, users can select individuals to hide or restore.

Furthermore, a new 'Show more in memories' option is being tested, which complements the existing 'Show less' feature. This new option allows users to prioritize certain individuals in their Memories, ensuring they appear more frequently in the automatically generated collections.

With the addition of these new features, Google Photos users will have greater control over which individuals are included in their Memories, enhancing their overall photo browsing experience.
