Google has a secret Wizard of Oz Easter Egg - here's how to find it

Despite being released 80 years ago today, the Wizard of Oz remains a firm favourite for families around the world.

Now, to celebrate the landmark anniversary, Google has launched a secret Wizard of Oz Easter Egg.

The Easter Egg is hidden in Google Search, and lets users experience Dorothy’s journey back home to Kansas, having clicked her famous ruby slippers.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Easter Egg, including how to find it, and what it does.

The Easter Egg is hidden in the ‘Knowledge Panel’ for the film (Google)

How to find the Wizard of Oz Easter Egg

1. Open Google Search, and type ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in the search box

2. On the right hand side of the results page, you’ll see a pair of ruby slippers on the ‘Knowledge Panel’ for the film

3. Click the slippers, and an animation will begin, showing the shoes clicking together three times

4. Your entire screen will then take a 360-degree spin, and will now appear in black and white!

5. To return back to your normal screen (aka Oz), click the tornado which is now in place of the ruby slippers

6. Your screen will then flip round again, and will return to colour
