Google Enhances Find My Device Network With Nest Products Integration

Google CEO Sundar Pichai attends AI forum in Washington

The Nest Hub Max, a smart display, speaker, and virtual assistant by Google, was showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain. Google recently announced updates to its Find My Device network, revealing that Nest products will aid in locating lost devices. This enhancement includes features such as locating offline devices and supporting Bluetooth tags.

Google's Find My Device app will now display the proximity of a lost device to a Nest product, assisting users in narrowing down the search area. This integration showcases a practical use of Nest products, which have faced declining functionality in recent times.

Despite the challenges, the new Find My Device feature offers a glimmer of hope for Nest device owners. Google has been actively updating its Nest ecosystem, including bundling Nest Aware with Google One, enhancing Nest Cam features, and introducing advanced automation for Google Home products.

Furthermore, Google has partnered with Chipolo and Pebblebee to support Bluetooth tracker tags, similar to Apple's AirTags. These tags, which have been in high demand, will work with the Find My Device network to help users locate their belongings.

Overall, Google's continuous efforts to improve Nest products through new features, partnerships, and services demonstrate its commitment to the ecosystem. While challenges remain, recent updates indicate that Nest hardware is still a priority for Google.
