A popular comic book shop in Dundee has been forced to close due to pandemic losses.
Big Dog Books, in the city centre, will shut its doors for the final time at the end of this month.
In a second blow, the company confirmed it is also being forced to close its Perth shop.
Announcing the news on Facebook, owner Stuart Kane said he tried his hardest to keep his business going.
He wrote: “It’s with great sadness that we are announcing the closure of Big Dog Books.
“We have tried as hard as we could to keep going, but the world post-pandemic has just made it impossible to continue.
“Continued covid interruptions, shipping delays, soaring costs, physical products moving to digital platforms, companies that once supported local game stores moving to direct sales, the rising cost of living and other political issues..the list goes on..”
Big Dog Books was well known as a “safe space” for people to visit to read, play board games and have a coffee and a chat.
It is now officially closing on Friday May 27.
Stuart, 39, added: “We know there are a great many people out there who see Big Dogs as their safe space.
“To you and the other loyal customers who have supported us through the years we say sorry for not being there anymore but that we will not leave you behind and will try to find new ways of keeping our people together.
"Goodbye, everyone."
