Those planning some outdoor activities over the weekend will be relieved to learn that Saturday and Sunday will be much drier than previous days but there is a "downside" according to a weather expert.
After what was primarily a wet and miserable Friday, the weekend will see a return of bright skies and showers easing off.
Weather forecaster Alan O'Reilly, who runs the popular @CarlowWeather Twitter account, has explained what kind of conditions to expect over the weekend.

There is one negative to the weekend's forecast and that comes with an increase in wind, as a strong breeze is expected over the next couple of days.
"After a very dull and damp day the good news is the weekend is far better with good sunny spells and very little showers," Mr O'Reilly tweeted.
"The only downside is the strong breeze and temperatures not getting above 21c."
Met Eireann has also issued its weather forecast for the weekend, with the national forecaster revealing what to expect across Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday forecast
Today, Saturday July 1, will see a limited number of scattered showers and they will mainly be confined to the northern half of the country as the south welcomes the return of drier conditions in a mixture of cloud and sunny spells. Highs of 15C to 20C are forecast and the southeast of the country will be warmest. A strong breeze expected throughout the day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Tonight, then, will be partly cloudy with a few scattered showers continuing, mainly in the northern half of the country. Temperatures are likely to drop to between 9C and 13C overnight.
Sunday forecast
Sunday will be quite similar, with scattered showers extending from the north into the south in the afternoon. It will be somewhat cloudy, but the midlands and east of the country will enjoy the best of the sunny spells. Highs of 15C to 18C are forecast.
