Good Morning Britain viewers slam Adil Ray question as Ukrainian doctors quizzed over death of friends

Good Morning Britain viewers have criticised presenter Adil Ray for asking two Ukrainian doctors about the tragic loss of their friends who were killed by a missile overnight.

Doctors Kateryna and Oleksandr joined the ITV breakfast show on Monday to discuss the situation in Ukraine as they stay in the country to fight and provide healthcare to injured victims, the Mirror Online reports.

However, viewers tuning in to watch the ITV show were left outraged by Adil asking the pair about the friends they had lost in the conflict.

The interview began with Susanna Reid asking how they were both doing.

Kateryna, who is currently near Kyiv, said: "This morning was difficult for us because last night was very tough.

"There were a lot of sirens last night.

"It's also difficult as this night we stayed at home because the bomb shelter was full.

"There was no space for us. It was difficult for us."

As they continued to discuss their inability to get into a bomb shelter, Adil then stepped in to say: "Oleksandr we've also heard you've had some very sad news overnight that friends of yours - I believe in the north - have sadly lost their lives due to rocket fire.

"That must be really, really hard for you to accept and take in at this point."

The cameras crossed over to the two doctors but Oleksandr was lost for words and began to cry.

Adil quickly stepped in to say: "You don't have to say anything.

"We don't want you to get upset, we can see how hard this might be.

"Our thoughts are with you, they really are.

"It must be - for you going through and just trying to stay alive, and survive, and not only that, you're helping others - and then to hear about your friends the other side of the country, it must be very difficult."

Kateryna then admitted it was tough, as they discussed their own emotions amid the Russia Ukraine conflict.

Viewers tuning in to watch the breakfast show today slammed Adil over the "stupid question" and branded it "disgusting".

"What a stupid question. 'Your friends have been killed, how do you feel,'" one wrote.

Another viewer said: "Your line of questioning is disgusting."

A third shared: "What a stupid question to ask! Have a heart."

"Are you happy that you got the reaction you wanted now?" a fourth person wrote online.
