Good Morning Britain viewers fume over 'pathetic' response to Phillip Schofield's This Morning exit

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to comment on social media as Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley appeared on screens. The pair were at the helm of the ITV news programme as another week was kicked off on Monday (May 22).

However, those tuning in were quick to notice that one of the biggest news stories in entertainment was largely ignored as the pair failed to mention Phillip Schofield's exit from their fellow daytime show, This Morning.

Phillip's exit was only mentioned briefly in the headlines by Ranvir Singh and instead, the show's anchors Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid focused on Tory MP Suella Braverman's speeding fine.

Ranvir said: "Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will be hosting today’s This Morning following Phillip Schofield’s departure from the show. The presenter announced he was stepping down with immediate effect on Saturday after 21 years in the role."

She added: "ITV has confirmed Holly Willoughby will continue to co-present with members of the This Morning family when she returns from break on June 5th."

But GMB viewers think that wasn't enough. @DarioCJK tweeted: "So #GMB is going to spend hours over a speeding ticket when all newspaper front pages are about Phil."

@And1Dixon fumed: "@GMB that was a pathetic snippet regarding #thismorning! Get it said and forgotten? Shame on you for that! #philschofield deserves far better from his #itv colleagues." @vanessahodgesd remarked: "I see #gmb is focussing on the news that doesn’t involve the ‘ITV family’."
