Good Morning Britain's Simon Calder shared the times people should set off if they are planning a long drive this Easter.
The travel expert appeared on today's edition of the ITV news programme and warned this bank holiday is set to be the busiest for travel since 2019. It is expected 17 million car journeys will take place over the Easter weekend and broadcaster, Adil Ray, asked Simon what people can do to avoid the "mayhem on the roads".
The expert explained how the roads are always worst at the middle of the day as he issued guidance for people plotting a road trip. He said: "Today probably about 11am things will start building up and that will continue until about 4pm.

"It's always worst at the middle of the day. If you're not setting off early, then set off late if you want to avoid the worst of the traffic.
"That's going to be the same for Saturday, Sunday and Monday." Glorious sunshine is set to arrive in the UK on Easter Sunday and Simon said the forecast will cause delays for anyone planning trips to seaside resorts such as Blackpool.
He also revealed the roads likely to be hit by traffic delays as he said: "It's the usual suspects. Western half of the M25, the M6, particularly around Manchester and Liverpool heading towards the Lakes. M5 South of Bristol going towards Devon and who could ever forget the A303."
