Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley 'agrees' to Strictly based on one condition

Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley has revealed he would agree to participate in the next season of Strictly Come Dancing based on one condition.

The 65-year-old broadcaster was anchoring Monday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid.

The presenters interviewed Johannes Radebe and John Whaite as they prepare to go on the live tour of the popular BBC dancing programme.

Richard heaped praise on this season's finalists and described himself as a Strictly obsessive, which prompted his co-host to suggest he should make an appearance on the next edition of the show.

However, Richard claimed he's too old to be donning his dancing shoes to compete for the Glitterball.

He said: "It's my back. 20 years ago I would have got my clock and watch and I'd be sitting in slippers in front of a gas fire."

Susanna blasted her co-host for making "excuses" to not appear on the show.

She said: "You're still on television broadcasting to a live audience. You're fit and well, aren't you?"

Susanna then asked the Strictly runners-up for their thoughts - and Johannes called for Richard to appear on the next season of the contest.

He said: "I think you must jump on board."

Richard revealed he would agree to do it if he could be partnered with the South African dancer.

He said: "Only if if I can dance with you. The pirates routine. We have to bring that back."

Susanna erupted with joy after the admission.

She said: "There we go! You heard it here first."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and the ITV Hub.
