Kate Garraway was quick to hit back as an MP tried to defend Boris Johnson amidst the ongoing scandal surrounding his birthday party during lockdown in March 2020.
After weeks of allegations of gatherings at Downing Street at various points of the coronavirus pandemic when the country was subject to severe restrictions on social distancing, last week it was revealed that a party was held in the PM's honour to celebrate his birthday at a time when rules were at their most strict.
A lot has been made of the birthday party in recent days, with claims Johnson was completely in the dark about the party and had been 'ambushed with cake.'

The furore surrounding Johnson continues to dominate headlines and TV screens and it was once again a hot topic on Thursday's GMB, when Kate and co-host Ben Shephard were joined by Peter Bone, MP for Wellingborough and Rushden.
Kicking things off on 'Partygate,' Ben said: "When he gets asked about why he did something he says 'well no-one told me that was against the rules.'
"He was the one that was telling us all the rules! All these excuses, these bizarre comments that have come out; he was ambushed by cake, all of those things...," before asking Bone: "What do you think of that? Because, from the outside looking in, that just undoes any credibility he has."
Bone replied: "If you're saying that we should bring down a prime minister because work colleagues brought in some cake and he ate it and he talked about business and they all disappeared after 10 minutes, then you're having your toast this morning!"
Not having it, Kate, whose husband Derek Draper was left gravely ill with Covid in March 2020, interrupted: "We were in lockdown. In this studio we were in a very specifically prescribed situation within the rules."
Bone responded by telling Kate and Ben that he had been out canvassing in his constituency, claiming "no-one has been bringing this up."
He added: "They are bringing things up like 'why are you putting taxes up?' 'What are you doing about small boats?' 'When are we going to get all our freedom back?'
Backing Kate, one GMB viewer reacted: "Has Peter Bone been asleep for that last 3 months and woke up yesterday? It's not about a cake, it's not only about the dozen parties at number 10 whilst people were suffering, it's about the lies, it's about the self preservation, it's about the unfairness."
A second tweeted: "When I hear Peter Bone he talks as if he represents everybody. He’s clearly a Johnson follower and is clearly happy to condone his character," however, sick of hearing about Partygate, another ranted: "If I hear the word party I immediately change channel, resorted to watching Everyone loves Raymond. Sick to death of it!!"
