Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway blown away to discover national treasure relative

Kate Garraway was gobsmacked to discover she is related to a national treasure.

The Good Morning Britain broadcaster is set to appear on the latest season of DNA Journeys alongside Alison Hammond. The two ITV stars have embarked on a road trip to uncover their family history.

A preview of tomorrow's episode shows Kate is blown away to learn she is related to Paddington Bear. Kate met her new found cousin Karen, who was excited to reveal her "brother" as she showed a teddy of the famous bear.

She said: "Paddington and I grew up together." Kate was initially confused by the reveal before Karen clarified her dad was Michael Bond, who created the beloved character.

Kate was thrilled by the discovery as she said: "Oh my god, Paddington Bear is my favourite thing. I love it." Kate was also amazed to discover she has a deep connection to James Bond.

The broadcaster uncovered her ancestor was in the elite secretive unit, T-Force in World War II and this unit was the inspiration for the world’s most famous spy.

Alison visited Jamaica to trace her roots and is moved to discover her 3 x Great Grandfather's inspiring story. Alison's ancestor campaigned for the rights of free people of colour and was instrumental in gaining their freedom.

DNA Journeys airs Thursday, October 6 on ITV at 9pm
