Good Morning Britain's Ben Shepard left cringing as Andi Peters makes 'big bucks' salary quip

Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard was left stunned after Andi Peters made an awkward quip about his salary live on television.

Peters made the remark after Shephard said: “Look at the Klasses, they're all class!” about Myleene Klass, 45, and her daughter Ava, 16, ahead of their musical performance on the show.

In response, Peters then quipped “I see what he did there! That's why he gets the big bucks", before adding “allegedly”.

Following the comment, Shephard then looked to the camera awkwardly and forced a laugh before co-host Ranvir Singh changed the subject.

The awkward exchange comes after The Sun reported that Shephard could earn £550,000 per year should he take over from Phillip Schofield on ITV's This Morning.

Schofield quit the show in May after he admitted he lied about an affair with a younger male colleague.

Then months later, Willoughby, who had presented the show for 14 years, revealed she was stepping away from the daytime series in October.

Ever since, the show has been fronted by a different roster of presenters including Craig Doyle, Rylan ClarkEmma Willis and I’m a Celebrity contestant Josie Gibson, alongside the hosts of Friday episodes, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

However, This Morning's relaunch has since been delayed after Cat Deeley, who was set to join Shephard, reportedly turned down the top job after she decided to return to America to host So You Think You Can Dance.

Deeley’s became a household name when she fronted BAFTA-winning children’s show SM:TV Live alongside Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.

She also presenter its spin-off chart show, CD:UK and later presented Fame Academy alongside her now husband Patrick Kielty as well as a reboot of Stars in Their Eyes.

Since 2006, Deeley has made a name for herself across the pond hosting dance competition, So You Think You Can Dance.
