Good Morning Britain hit by Northern Lights photo 'prank' as Laura Tobin fooled by viewer's shot

Good Morning Britain and its weather presenter Laura Tobin fell victim to a Northern Lights photo prank on Monday, as they used as photo from a viewer of a location that clearly wasn't what it was claimed to be.

This weekend there was excitement for stargazers and anyone who'd been longing to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights for ages, when it was forecast that they would be visible in Scotland, Ireland and England on Sunday night. Those who cast their eyes to the skies were rewarded with some amazing views although some people had their enjoyment hampered by clouds.

An excited Laura invited GMB viewers to send their photos in of the views they caught of the Northern lights on Sunday night and one she drew attention to had been posted o9n Twitter by viewer Nick Harvey. Taking to the social media platform to share his image on Sunday, he wrote: "The #NorthernLights from Crowborough, East Sussex are taking my breath away."

However, it didn't long to realise that Nick's picture wasn't of East Sussex at all, with a giraffe on the bottom left hand side of the image the big give away, not to mention the mountains in the background.

GMB bosses contracted Nick to ask if they could use his photo for Monday's programme and, after telling them it would make him 'very happy' if they were to show it on screen, the photo was given a slice of the spotlight as Laura presented one of her forecasts shortly after 8am, with the weather expert blown away by 'the colours' in the shot.

Celebrating pulling the wool over GMB's eyes, Nick returned to Twitter to respond: "Thank you, @GMB. I am literally crying laughing," with another viewer telling him: "I think you can take the rest of the year off, Nick this has made my day."
