A guest on Good Morning Britain surprised viewers of the ITV show after ranting about the dangers of flip flops and calling for the casual footwear to be banned altogether.
During a segment discussing whether it was acceptable to wear summer attire to work in the hot weather, broadcaster Mike Parry slammed workers who turn up to the office in shorts and flip flops. Mike went so far as to say that he would send employees home if they came to work in such casual attire.
But the journalist and radio presenter took hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway aback after sharing his strong stance on flip flops - claiming that the footwear was not only inappropriate for the workplace, but a serious threat to safety. He went on to tell shocking anecdotes warning against the dangers of flip flops, YorkshireLive reports .

“I know of a case when a flip-flop got trapped in an escalator, because they flop around,” Mike said. “I know cases of people slipping over whilst they’re walking on a clifftop, and banging themselves and breaking their hip."
Leaving viewers in no doubt as to his views on flip flops, Mike added: “They’re the most dangerous form of footwear in the world, and they should be banned for everybody - not just people at work.”
Fellow Good Morning Britain guest Emily Thornberry appeared to poke fun at the stark warning. The Labour MP said: “I honestly just didn’t realise that wearing flip flops could mean that you might die.
“I had no idea,” she added. “I’m so pleased I heard this, because I’ll have to be careful in future.” Host Adil jokingly suggested in reply: “We’ll need a policy from your party on this.” And viewers at home also seemed to be amused by the debate.
One viewer joked on Twitter: “Hope you all have a gorgeous sunny day, please remember not to wear flip flops though as Mike Parry says they will kill you!”
“This happened to me, I wore a flip flop to work and died,” another person said.
A third added: “I’d love to see the scenario where written on the death certificate under cause of death it reads: flip flop.”
