Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway were spotted in Whiston Hospital on Monday morning.
The Good Morning Britain hosts were filming a special one-off, live NHS special as staff at the Knowsley hospital said last weekend was the most challenging of the year. They were joined by Dr Chris Hilary and Dr Amir Khan and journalists Angela Epstein and Kevin Maguire as well as several of the staff members from the NHS trust.
The Hospital Trust has now introduced two new initiatives to reduce the length of patient's stays - They have organised more care spaces to unblock beds and have opened up a frailty centre.

But while the idea was for a good cause - bringing awareness to the pressures NHS staff are currently under - not many fans thought it was worthwhile.
Taking to Twitter, viewers were split on what they thought of the show's new "set". Russell said: "#GMB Hospital is under pressure... Let's set up Studio in Reception and get in the way ... Great idea."
Amy said: "Would have loved to have seen the reaction from staff when they were told about this. Totally bizarre decision from ITV (thought the Matt Hancock debacle couldn't be beaten) but even more bizarre the hospital agreed to it! #GMB #WhistonHospital".
Kazz said: "You’re not getting in the way because OPD isn’t even open. What a waste of time. All we’re seeing is staff floating around trying to look busy in front of camera. Leave the hospital dramas to Channel 4 #GMB."
Meanwhile, others thought it was an excellent idea and applauded it. One user said: "Always one that will complain regardless of the good people are trying to do to draw attention to the plight of our NHS. Keep up the good work. GMB."
Another said: "Well done #gmb for showing the actual pressures of the #NHS."
