Good Morning Britain fans slam Susanna Reid for 'awkward' haircut comment

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has caused a stir after making an "awkward" comment during an interview with the Shadow Chancellor.

MP for Leeds West Rachel Reeves featured on today's programme to talk about the latest tax cuts after accusing the Conservatives of "casino economics". When she appeared on the screen, Susanna exclaimed: "Well, it looks like you've had a cut of your own," referring to Ms Reeves' hair.

"Have you had your hair chopped in time for the conference?," asked Susanna. Ms Reeves replied: "More responsible than the [tax] cuts I've seen from the chancellor this week, I hope you approve."

After the interview co-host Ed Balls turned to Susanna to say he'd be "in big trouble" had he been the one asking about the Shadow Chancellor's haircut. He then asked: "Did you notice Kwasi Kwarteng's hair yesterday?"

Susanna said she didn't, to which Ed replied: "Interesting," while turning to the camera with a knowing grin.

Viewers were not too impressed with the line of questioning. Taking to Twitter, they voiced their complaints.

Christopher tweeted: "This isn't Lorraine, never mind her hair, ask about policy."

Lucy Adamson said: "Typical Susanna, comment on the haircut because it's a woman. And then moan about people commenting on your clothing, because you're a woman.

"Would you have been so quick to notice Starmer's had a trim?! It's the soon-to-be chancellor RR, have some depth for God sake!"

Another viewer criticised: "'Have you had your hair chopped?' -Susanna. Journalism... apparently."

Hasamelis asked: "Would u ask a man if he had haircut?" To which another viewer replied: "Pure sexism there."

And Carla wrote: "Awkward."
