Good Morning Britain fans outraged as Quentin Letts admits to breaking covid rules

Fans of ITV's Good Morning Britain were outraged with one guest on the show today.

Quentin Letts, a journalist and theatre critic, appeared on the show as hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway were discussing England's return to 'Plan A' - and the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The rule changes mean shoppers will no longer be required to wear a face covering by law but supermarkets are still encouraging them to do so.

Dr Amir Khan was on the show, live from Leeds via video link, explaining the importance of masks.

He said: "I feel uneasy about it. I understand people want to go back to a level of normality but I would strongly recommend wearing a mask in public indoor spaces, especially on public transport.

"I am behind places that continue to recommend that, because masks have been proven to reduce the transmission of this airborne virus."

Ben Shephard asked: "Quentin will you be wearing a mask? "

He replied. "No. Never have done."

Kate asked in disbelief: "You've never worn one?"

He answered: "No, I have worn one but I've always been sceptical. And I've always been badly behaved."

Fans of GMB were disappointed in what Letts said, and took to Twitter to share their anger, with some even asking the show to never have him return to their screens.

One user said: "#GMB Disappointing to hear Quentin Letts rarely wears a mask"

Chris said: "He's never wore a mask! ... NEVER have this vile little creep back on your show again."

Janis said: "If you have Letts on #GMB again, it will be the last time I watch your programme and I won’t be the only one. What the hell were you thinking."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and the ITV Hub.
