Good Morning Britain fans fume at John Barrowman as star defends 'exposing himself'

TV fans were left furious with John Barrowman this week after the star made an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

Speaking on the ITV show via video call, the former Doctor Who actor had been invited on to chat about his new role hosting All Star Musicals.

However, Barrowman had been confronted by Richard Madeley about his previous actions on sets, after allegations had emerged that the 54-year-old had "exposed himself" on multiple occasions.

The Glasgow-born actor, who moved to the US with his family when he was eight, was said to have made the inappropriate gesture both on the set of Doctor Who and Torchwood, as well as in a Radio 1 interview.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Barrowman acknowledged the accusations, and said his actions were merely "silliness", rather than anything unacceptable.

Discussing cancel culture, the Sun reports that the actor claimed that his displays were not sexual harassment, and added that "times are different now."

He added: "I think the public understand that it was tomfoolery, a joke and silliness and wasn't sexual harassment.

"You say that it was my party trick but everyone who was there, on set and part of the fun and enjoyed and laughed at the silliness that went on, we had a great time."

The former Torchwood star took aim at "cancel culture" as he answered questions from Madeley on GMB, saying that it had "gone way too far".

He continued: "They've tried to strip my career over 35 years that I've worked very hard with and had a lot of fun in and been very open with all of the silliness that went on.

"All the stories are nothing new, they've been out there for years and I've written about them in my autobiography.

"Cancel culture hyenas that are trying to strip the meat off of a bone until there is nothing left.

"Listen, I'm over it and I have moved on and I think everyone else has moved on and cancel culture has gone way too far."

However, many viewers tuning into GMB were furious with Barrowman's justifications, causing a serious backlash on social media following the show.

One said: "John Barrowman trying to make light of a sex crime is quite frankly disturbing."

Others echoed the concerns, with one adding: "Not John Barrowman blaming cancel culture. Everyone else to blame but him."

And another wrote: "Oh do f**k off Barrowman. Exposing yourself to people isn't 'fun' you absolute clown."

However, others defended the actor and suggested everyone should 'move on.'

One commented online: "People need to let this go now, John Barrowman apologised and addressed it was inappropriate."
