Good Morning Britain announces change to show with Martin Lewis special

Good Morning Britain has announced changes to the show for Wednesday, March 30. Richard Madeley will not be presenting the breakfast programme as usual as Martin Lewis steps in for a cost of living special.

The money saving expert, who has previously presented GMB as a guest host, will return to the show alongside Susanna Reid for a slightly different episode. The show has announced the consumer champion will be taking over to answer viewers' questions ahead of the energy price cap hike.

Good Morning Britain said on Twitter: "As the energy price cap is set to rise 54% on April 1st, @susannareid100 & @martinslewis will bring you a cost of living crisis special on Wednesday 30 March. Are you worried about your household bills? Or want some tips? Leave your questions below."

Susanna also shared details of what to expect during Tuesday's episode of GMB. She told viewers: "Now with just a few days until the energy price cap goes up by 54%, huge concern of course about the impact on energy bills, me and Martin Lewis are going to be doing a GMB special tomorrow morning. We are going to focus on the cost of living crisis, we'll look at what you can do to cope with the rising bills and Martin will be taking your questions throughout the morning."

The news comes after Martin explained why he was unable to take on GMB presenting full-time, despite many calls from fans. The financial guru's recent presenting stint on the show impressed viewers, so much so that many of them requested to make Martin a permanent presenter on the ITV news show.

But Martin ruled out the role and explained his reasons to his 1.3 million Twitter followers. Sharing why it wouldn't be possible, Martin said: "Many kind comments about me doing @GMB more permanently. Sadly the workload & hours mean its not compatible with my day job, so I can't do more.

"Shame, as I enjoy the challenge. Yet being the Money Saving Expert is m'calling & where I think I've most impact. I can't risk that."

The Good Morning Britian cost of living special will air 6am to 9am on Wednesday, March 30 on ITV. For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
