Good Morning Britain has addressed Kate Garraway’s absence on air after she was replaced for a second day, sparking concern amongst fans.
The presenter, 56, was replaced on Thursday's edition of the ITV breakfast show by Ranvir Singh and was again missing during today’s broadcast with Charlotte Hawkins stepping in for her.
Adding to the mystery, Garraway also left her Smooth radio broadcast 30 minutes into her show on Wednesday.
During a discussion about Garraway being included on The Independent’s list of Britain’s 50 most influential women for International Women’s Day, Hawkins explained: "She [Kate] would be here today but she's lost her voice. She's all well but she can't speak."
Co-host Adil Ray, who is Ben Shephard’s first replacement since he left to host This Morning, then joked: "She's lost her voice, she's been too influential in the past year." Hawkins continued: "I know, she obviously has been hasn't she."
Sending their friend and co-star well wishes, Ray added: "Be less influential Kate and get better soon."
Last month, Garraway returned to the GMB studio after a short break following the death of her husband Derek Draper.
Mr Draper contracted Covid in the early stages of the pandemic back in March 2020, resulting in a year-long stint in hospital and life-altering damage caused by the disease.
Garraway supported him throughout his illness and spoke candidly about his condition and its affect on her family life, most notably in two documentaries, Finding Derek and Caring For Derek.Draper suffered a heart attack in December and died in hospital in January aged 56.
