The adults have vanished and the FAYZ has begun. It's a world without order – Sam has been placed in command. He is one of the most powerful mutants in the FAYZ behind little Pete (the creator). Now he has to stop Caine – his brother whom he never knew. He too has powers. And then there's the darkness – a power for evil that can get into the minds of his victims manipulating them to do whatever he likes.
Albert is probably my favourite character as he is quite innocent and is a normal boy, he is always planning for the future. Sam has powers but he can be frustrating, sometimes he just doesn't think. Astrid is good but she isn't that interesting. I like Edilio's character though he is too violent with his "soldiers".
I'd rate Gone 5 out of 5. This book is annoying in a way and yet you can't put it down. There are the troubles of every-day life without any means of finding food, fuel or water only made worse by Caine's vengeful gang, them too starving. You can see what is right for the character to do but the author (Michael Grant) has been smart – he makes it impossible to tell what is coming next and when it does come it can be perfect, exactly what the story needs, or it can be painfully frustrating.
