Golfers on FedEx Cup bubble highlight those to miss cut at Butterfield Bermuda Championship

With only two events left until the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Fall is finished, golfers near the top 125 had only a couple more chances to improve their position and secure a card ahead of next year.

However, plenty of those went backward and are heading home for the weekend.

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Club is on to the weekend. The second round finished Saturday morning, and the cut was 5 under.

Among those expected to head home early are the U.S. Amateur champion, a former major champion, a 15-year-old Bermuda native and plenty of golfers searching for job security next year.

Here’s a look at who’s packing their bags at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Betschart was living a dream this weekend. The 15-year-old from Bermuda qualified for the tournament where he has previously been a caddie, volunteer and tournament staff. He shot rounds of 73-75.

Nick Dunlap (3 under)

The 2023 U.S. Amateur champion reached 5 under at one point during his first round, but he had a rough finish to the day, shooting 3-under 68. On Friday, he was unable to get any momentum, shooting even-par.

Jimmy Walker (1 over)

The 2016 PGA champion shot 2-under 69 on Friday, but an opening 74 prohibited him from having any chance at the weekend. He came into the week 132nd in the FedEx Cup standings and is projected No. 139.

Harry Higgs (5 over)

The lovable Harry Higgs has one last chance to retain his card for next year. Rounds of 75-72 sent him packing early, and he came into the week 141st in the standings.

MJ Daffue (even-par)

Daffue had a consistent week, though rounds of 70 and 72 weren’t enough on a scorable course. He entered the week at 129th in the FedEx Cup standings and is projected 136th with one event left.

Harrison Endycott (1 under)

Another golfer on the bubble, Endycott entered the week at No. 133 in the standings. After rounds of 71-70, he’s projected 141st.

C.T. Pan (4 under)

C.T. Pan came into the week No. 125 in the FedEx Cup standings. After missing the cut, he’s projected No. 128 and outside the cut line.

He shot rounds of 68 and 70, but it wasn’t enough to earn a weekend tee time and collect some more FedEx Cup points to secure his position.

Doug Ghim (4 under)

Ghim is in a similar position to Pan, coming into the week at No. 117. However, with rounds of 70-68 in Bermuda, he’s projected No. 121 and closer to falling outside of the 125 with one event left.

Henrik Norlander (2 under)

Norlander came into the week No. 121, but after shooting 69-71 to miss the cut, he’s now No. 124 with only one event left to secure his card for next year.
