Golf fans predicted more awkwardness between Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson after PGA Tour – LIV Golf merger

Tuesday’s news that the PGA Tour would officially merge with LIV Golf was a bombshell in the golf world. Now, for one pro in particular, Rory McIlroy, matters could start to get a bit awkward between himself and Phil Mickelson.

You see, even though the PGA-affiliated McIlroy has seemingly started to change his tune about LIV Golf, given recent interactions with Brooks Koepka, he’s still been vocally against the tour overall. And after Mickelson was one of the first former PGA Tour golfers to leave for LIV, McIlroy hasn’t been his biggest fan. Heck, in recent days, Mickelson himself was taking shots at McIlroy for a recent PGA offseason stance.

As such, golf fans are predicting a lot of tension between the two once they inevitably see each other on the course at a PGA-LIV event.
