Golf club search, person hit by train and one minute silence for the Queen

Live updates as police search golf club for guns used in Olivia Pratt-Korbel's murder

Police are carrying out a major search at a golf club for the murder weapon used to kill Olivia Pratt-Korbel.

Merseyside Police Matrix disruption team and the North West Underwater Search Team are at West Derby Golf Club today (September 12) searching for the guns that were used on the night of Olivia's murder.

Today marks three weeks since Olivia's murder on Kingsheath Avenue in Dovecot on Monday, August 22. Detectives have been "working around the clock" and arrested nine people, although no one has yet been charged.

Person dies after being hit by train at railway station

A person has died after being hit by a train.

National Rail confirmed emergency services attended Widnes train station today (September 12) at around 9:48am after a person was hit by a train between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington. Paramedics attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "Lines have now reopened following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central. Trains running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed or revised whilst services return to normal. This is expected until 12:30."

Prime Minister announces national one minute silence in honour of The Queen

A national one minute silence will be held in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

The nation is in mourning after Her Majesty died last Thursday at the age of 96. Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced people will come together to remember the Queen's legacy at 8pm on Sunday, September 18 in a minute silence.

The Prime Minister's official spokesman said: "At 8pm on Sunday, September 18, the night before the state funeral, there will be a one-minute silence where the public are invited to come together and observe a national moment of reflection to mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II."
