Golf ball-sized hailstones injure up to 90 fans at Louis Tomlinson Red Rocks concert

Up to 90 people have been injured after golf ball-sized hailstones rained down on screaming fans at a Louis Tomlinson concert in the United States.

The hail left audience members with broken bones and cuts, according to the fire brigade, who were called to Colorado’s Red Rocks concert venue on Wednesday.

Concert-goers took to Twitter saying it was “the scariest night of their lives” and revealed that they were left with “welts” on their skin.

Videos have also gone viral online showing the crowds trying to flee the amphitheatre and can be heard screaming as they tried to take shelter from the storm.

On Thursday morning, West Metro Fire Rescue tweeted: “Seven people transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

“A total of 80 to 90 people treated on scene.

“Injuries include cuts and broken bones. Sporadic hail still coming down in Morrison area.”

The show had been delayed after 8pm amid weather and flood warnings issued by the police and fans were told to seek shelter.

It was given the all clear to go ahead at 8.35pm but was delayed again at 9.15pm.

The venue tweeted at 10.25pm to announce the concert had been postponed and urged the audience to be safe while leaving Red Rocks.

Former One Direction bandmate Tomlinson, 31, later took to social media and said he was “devastated” by what had happened.

He tweeted: “Devastated about the show tonight, hope everyone’s OK, I’ll be back!

“Even though we didn’t play the show I felt all of your passion! Sending you all love!”
