Police have charged Gold Coast woman Wendy Sleeman's son with her murder.
The 61-year-old's body was found in a car in a garage on Brisbane's north side on Thursday night, two days after she was reported missing from her Elanora home.
Slade Murdok, 30, was arrested in Brisbane on Wednesday, and initially charged with unlawful stalking, burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm, kidnapping, attempted arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
His murder charge was mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court this morning before being adjourned to the Southport Magistrates Court on February 14.
His lawyer Rodney Keyte told the court his client has an injury to his hand and instructed him to ask for a delay in providing any fingerprint samples required by authorities.
Magistrate Belinda Merrin declined the request, saying "I have no power to make such a direction".
Outside court, Mr Keyte said his client was taken to hospital to have his injuries assessed following last Thursday's court date.
Mr Murdok's appearance in court today was excused and he was remanded in custody.
Police appeal for information
Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said police were looking for more information on a white Ford Laser with registration 483ZPG.
"We are still seeking further information from the public, these matters don't solve themselves, and quite often it's those little tips from the public that help us along the way," Superintendent Smith said.
"… that one piece of the puzzle is quite often what we need."
He said the vehicle was "quite distinctive" because it was dented and had missing hub cabs.
"People would have noticed it," he said.
Siblings 'profoundly saddened' by Sleeman's death
Wendy Sleeman's brother Mike Sleeman and sister Meg Sleeman released a statement saying she could now be laid to rest.
"We acknowledge the tireless work of the Burleigh Heads CIB in this case," they said.
"We are profoundly saddened by Wendy's death. She was gentle, funny, caring, clever, loved her Labradors and always thought of other people before herself.
"In accordance with Wendy's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of leaving flowers, could we ask that people consider making a donation in her memory to either Rosie's or to the Labrador Retriever Club of Queensland.
"We will miss our beloved sister forever and ask for you to respect our privacy at this terrible time."
The Gold Coast Red Rose Foundation will hold a rally in remembrance of Ms Sleeman at midday on Thursday.
