Gold Coast have named representative forward Tino Fa'asuamaleaui as the NRL club's new captain.
The 21-year-old, who signed a long-term contract with the Titans late last year, replaces Kevin Proctor and now-departed Jamal Fogarty in the role.
Fa'asuamaleaui won the Paul Broughton Medal in his first season with the Titans in 2021 after a premiership-winning campaign with Melbourne in 2020 before his move to the Gold Coast.
The decision continues coach Justin Holbrook's faith in youngsters with Fa'asuamaleaui to lead a team which will feature 23-year-old AJ Brimson, 20-year-old Toby Sexton and 21-year-old Jayden Campbell as the club's attacking spine in 2022.
"Tino is a natural leader and he has been that with us since he first arrived at the club," Holbrook said.
"He sets such high standards and I love that ... Tino is part of an exciting new wave of Titans that are invested in bringing success here to the Coast."
As well as his premiership win in 2020, Fa'asuamaleaui has been a regular for Queensland in the past two State of Origin campaigns.
The Titans begin their 2022 NRL premiership season away to Parramatta on March 13.
