Gogglebox viewers were left as stunned as the stars of the hit Channel 4 show tonight by an X-rated scene - involving a woman and a duck - from Apple TV+ anthology series Roar.
While the likes of Jenny and Lee and Pete and Sophie were uncharacteristically lost for words, Giles and Mary had a more measured debate about how a duck "could use his beak". The episode being watched - The Woman Who Was Fed by a Duck - is about a woman who is seduced by a duck.
It's fair to say the clip has ruffled a few feathers. Dozens of viewers shared their shock on Twitter - but many of the tweets were almost as X-rated as the scene they had just watched.
The views of many were summed up by @karenamy, who tweeted: "I’m traumatised by that." And @gracegrxnde agreed, commenting: gogglebox are at it again with their creepy sex scenes - this week involved a duck. U r traumatising me."
Meanwhile @randomscouser85 said he was going to have to watch the scene more than once. He tweeted: "I'm gonna have to watch that again on +1 to make sure it actually happened and I wasn't in a weird state of delusion." However, once was more than enough for Julie Gosden Turner, who tweeted: "OMG I just watched tonight’s episode of #Gogglebox and I need to wash my eyes out!! What the actual DUCK?!?!"
Roar is based on a book of short stories by Cecelia Ahern, and the anthology series that "weaves together eight darkly comedic feminist fables that take unexpected approaches to subjects like gender roles, autonomy and identity".
IMDB describes it as "an insightful, poignant, and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today. Featuring a unique blend of magical realism, familiar domestic and professional scenarios, and futuristic worlds."
