Gogglebox viewers demand change to show as things 'get political' over Boris party gate

Gogglebox viewers have demanded change to the Channel 4 programme after 'getting political' during Friday night's show.

Last night (April 15) saw the armchair critics tune into the likes of Bridgerton, but it was a BBC news clip that really got things heated.

The families tuned in to the clip that showed the news as it broke about Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak getting fined over breaking lockdown rules.

Quick to get their opinions out there, the families started sharing their own personal views on whether or not they believe the Prime Minister should resign from his job.

But fans of Gogglebox weren't impressed with the politically charged segment, with many taking to Twitter to air their frustrations and call for the programme to cut out any future political chat.

"Gogglebox very political really annoying me. Had to turn off," fumed one viewer.

"Please don't go all political on us. I watch Gogglebox to escape this Boris rubbish," said another disgruntled fan of the programme.

A third then penned: "More political narrative from Channel 4, give it a rest."

But some fans of the show were in favour of the politically charged discussion.

"You can't separate politics from everyday life: it influences every single aspect of everyday life. We need MORE politics, not less. Gogglebox might just reach the disinterested," urged one.

Another was quick to chime in and penned: "Why are people moaning about gogglebox talking about politics? This show has always done it. Quit moaning ffs."

This comes after viewers of the Channel 4 programme were completely baffled and "in stitches" when Pete Sandiford demonstrated his 'painful' Easter egg hack.

Pete bashed a chocolate egg into his forehead on Friday night's show – which left fans completely baffled.

Showing off to his little sister Sophie, Pete went on to tell her how he had a unique trick when it came to cracking chocolate Easter eggs open.

He explained: "You just hit the pointy bit of your head.

"Watch this," he said as he smashed the large chocolate egg, which was wrapped in gold foil, into his forehead.

Pete then proceeded to smash the chocolate egg into his head – which didn't go quite to plan.

"I think I've got a fractured skull just off watching you," Sophie said cracking up completely.

Fans flocked to Twitter after the clip aired, and one penned: "Did he just do what I think he did ... with a chocolate Easter egg?"

Another added: "This had me in stitches @PeteandSophie @C4Gogglebox I remember doing something similar with a chocolate orange and it going very badly wrong #Gogglebox #EasterEgg."

"What prat told him to smash an easter egg off his head to open it??? #Gogglebox," asked a third.

Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4 and All4.
