Gogglebox viewers concerned by Pete Sandiford's new way to crack an Easter egg

The stars of Channel 4's Gogglebox were looking forward to Easter on the latest edition of the programme that takes a look at the week's TV from the vantage point of the nation's sofas. And chocolate was on the agenda on Friday (April 7) for reviewer Pete Sandiford and his sister Sophie.

Last year Pete demonstrated how to open an Easter egg in a rather drastic way by smashing it on his head - an attempt that failed miserably as the egg didn't appear to crack one bit. So, for 2023, he changed tack and tried a different method.

"I think I've cracked how to smash an Easter egg, you know," he told Sophie as the Blackpool pair sat in front of the TV. "You've got to do a ju-jitsu chop on it.

"Are you ready? Let me have one last go. I think I'm going to crack it this time."

Pete then forcefully brought his outstretched hand down sideways onto the pointy end of a shiny, foil-wrapped Easter egg. But once again the exercise ended painfully.

"Argh! Argh!" Pete exclaimed while swearing profusely as Sophie looked on and chuckled.

Fans commented on Twitter that the move must have hurt. Rich Deighton @RichStomabearDJ said: "Ouch. I felt that, Pete!" while Garry Enfield @EnfieldGarry wrote: "Ouch, bet that hurt Pete."

Sparks @Sparks2810 tweeted: "Yep… that’s one way to crack an Easter egg" while Emma @coxyhockeychick commented: "One broken hand."

Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 9pm and is available to catch up on All4
